Following information is regarding "Pastoral Ordination Candidacy Qualification and Exams”", which will be offered in May of 2016. Those who wish to become candidates are encouraged to send in all the necessary documents to begin the process. Those who prefer the use of English may submit all documents and take exams in English.

1. Candidacy Qualification
The applicant must be a M. Div graduate (or expected to graduate before June 30 of 2016) of a seminary (acknowledged) by KAPC. He must have a clear confession in the tradition of the Reformed Faith; he also should be a Christian in good standing in a local church with a clear sense of calling into ministry, and with a recognized gift in leadership.

3. Exam Subjects
a) Written Test : (1) Church History, (2) Systematic Theology,
(3) American Church History, (4) Constitution of KAPC

b) Written Assignment : (1) OT Exegesis Paper (2) NT Exegesis Paper
(3) Thesis Paper, (4) Manuscript of Sermon

(1) OT Exegesis Text - Malachi 4:1-6
(2) NT Exegesis Text - 1 Corinthians 2:1-5
(3) Thesis Topic - What is the Biblical view on homosexuality?
Elaborate the Church's response on this issue.
(4) Sermon Text - ① NT: Romans 1:18-32
During the exam period, candidates will be asked to preach from
their written sermon.
(5) Instructions for the written assignments:
You must submit one hard copy and email a PDF file of each written
assignment according to the following regulations:
ⓐ Use 8-1/2 by 11 letter size papers.
ⓑ Use 12-point font and double space the text.
ⓒ Both thesis and exegesis papers should be about 25 pages each in length. The length of the sermon text should correspond to 30 minutes of actual preaching time.
ⓓ Use a common academic writing format for thesis, and all quotes, and cited information must accompany proper references (i. e. footnotes or endnotes).
ⓔ All PDF files must be emailed to Jameshur63@Hotmail.com with
the following instructions:
① The subject line must include your name
② File attachments must include your name and assignment title.
(Ex. YunJoonHur-OTExegesisPaper.pdf)
ⓕ You may send multiple e-mails if your files are too big.
c) Oral Interview

4. Accompanying Documents
a) A copy of the certificate of graduation with M. Div. degree of a letter from the registrar (or the president of a seminary) certifying that the candidates is expected to graduate before June 30 of 2016.
b) An official copy of transcript for the whole M. Div. program.
c) A letter of recommendation from the moderator of a Presbytery that the candidate is under care.
d) An official letter from a Presbytery (issued by the clerk) confirming that the candidate under care is in good standing.
e) Curriculum Vitae(CV) including a clear history of faith (For example, the year of infant baptism, the name of the church where the baptism was given and the name of the officiating minister, etc.)
f) Two passport-size photos of the candidate.
g) Fee: $150(US). (Pay to the order of - The New Life Presbyterian Church of NY)

5. Instructions for Documents and Written Assignments Submission
a) All required documents and written assignments must be submitted by March 31, 2016. (Packages post-marked before March 31, 2015 are valid. No late submissions will be accepted.)
b) The candidates will not receive back the submitted documents and assignments.
c) The result of exam will be announced during the 40th meeting of the General Assembly (May 17-20). The candidates who successfully sustain the examination process will be introduced to the floor and will be given Ordination Candidate Qualification Certificates.

6. Miscellaneous Information

b) Candidates may use personal notebook computers for written exams, but the following conditions must be met.
(1) The personal notebook must contain only a Word Processing program.
(2) The screen is not to be changed during an exam. Violators will not be tolerated and will result in dismissal from the exam room.
(3) One must bring his own printer. Any mechanical problems will not constitute a valid excuse for failing to submit the exam on time.

“목사 학력 및 자격고시”를 다음과 같이 공고하오니 해당자는 아래 요령과 같이 지원 하여 주시기 바라며, 모든 서류와 시험은 한글과 영어 중 편한 언어를 사용할 수 있습니다.

1. 응시자격
본 총회 직영 신학교 및 총회가 인준한 정규 신학교 M.Div 학위를 졸업 하였거나 2016년 6월 이전에 졸업 예정 인자로 개혁주의 신앙이 투철한 무흠 입교인으로서 확실한 소명과 영적지도력을 가진 분.

2. 고시일자 및 장소
a) 고시일자: 2016년 5월 13(금) - 16(월)
b) 고시장소: Philadelphia, USA

3. 고시과목
a) 필기고시: (1) 교회사 (2) 조직신학 (3) 미국장로교회사 (4) 헌법(이상4과목)
b) 제출고시: (1) 구약주해 (2) 신약주해 (3) 논문 (4)설교원고 (이상4편)

제출 고시 내용
(1) 구약주해- 말라기 4:1-6
(2) 신약주해- 고린도전서 2:1-5
(3) 논문제목- 동성애에 대한 성경적 견해와 교회의 책임에 대하여 논하라.
(4) 설교본문- ①신약: 로마서 1:18-32
ⓐ 설교 원고를 작성하여 제출 할 것.
ⓑ 필기고사 당일에 본인이 선택한 본문을 중심으로 설교 실기고사를 치름.
(5) 제출 고시 과목에 관한 요령- 주해 및 논문은 아래지침에 따라 작성하되,
한부는 인쇄하여 제출하고, 한부는 PDF 파일로 서기에게 이메일 할 것.
ⓐ Letter Size(8-1/2 x 11) 용지를 사용 할 것.
ⓑ 한글 11호 크기의 글자를 사용하되, 줄 간격은180%
간격으로 (영문12호 Double Space) 작성할 것.
ⓒ 논문과 주해는 각각 25매 내외로 작성하며,
설교 원고는 30분 분량의 원고 (10pages 이내).
ⓓ 논문과 주해는 논문 작성 원칙에 따를 것이며 인용구는 각 주를 사용 할 것.
ⓔ PDF 파일를 보낼 때는 주제 이름을 파일 이름으로 사용 할 것.

5. 서류제출요령
a) 모든 응시 서류 및 제출고시 과목 원고는 2016년 3월 31일까지 제출해야 함. 2016년 3월31일 자 우체국 소인이 찍힌 것은 유효함. 그 이후는 접수하지 않음.
b) 접수된 서류는 일체 반환하지 않음.
c) 합격자 발표는 40회 총회기간(5월17일-20일) 중에 합격증서 수여함.

6. 참고사항
a) 고시생은 고시부 서기 허윤준 목사에게 연락하여 시험기간(5월 13일-16일 총회고시장소)중에 사용할 숙소를 예약 할 것.
b) 고시당일 Notebook 컴퓨터를 사용하여 고시를 볼 수 있으나 아래 사항을 지킬 것.
(1) Word Process 이외의 모든 program은 고시장소에 들어오기 전에 지울 것.
(2) 시험 중에는 화면을 절대로 바꾸지 말 것. 허락 없이 화면을 바꾸면 퇴장 당함.
(3) 프린터는 제공되지 않으므로 본인이 책임지고 준비 할 것.
