Eisenhower Definition of Integrity: the state of being complete, unified; being one with yourself Image: what people think we are Integrity: what we really are Proverbs 10:9 NIV Whoever walks in INTEGRITY walks securely, but whoever takes crooked paths will be found out. Proverbs 11:3 NIV The INTEGRITY of the upright guides them, but the unfaithful are destroyed by their duplicity. Questions to Help You Grow Your Integrity: 1. Is my personal walk with God up-to-date? Hebrews 4:12 NKJ For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. Romans 12:2 NKJ And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. 2. Am I keeping my priorities straight? 3. Am I accountable to someone in authority in my life? 1 Thessalonians 5:12-13 NKJ And we urge you, brethren, to recognize those who labor among you, and are over you in the Lord and admonish you, and to esteem them very highly in love for their work’s sake. Be at peace among yourselves. Hebrews 13:17 NKJ Obey those who rule over you, and be submissive, for they watch out for your souls, as those who must give account. Let them do so with joy and not with grief, for that would be unprofitable for you. 4. Am I overly concerned with image-building? Questions to Ask Yourself: • When I do something for the Lord, do I care if I receive credit for it? • Am I more concerned with how I perform, or whether people see Christ in me? • Do I spend more time on how I dress and look, or on developing my character? • Am I the same person no matter who I am with? • Do I make decisions based on what is right, or what is most easily accepted? 5. Am I a loner in my service to the Lord? Proverbs 18:1 NKJ A man who isolates himself seeks his own desire; he rages against all wise judgment. Hebrews 10:25 NCV You should not stay away from the church meetings, as some are doing, but you should meet together and encourage each other. Do this even more as you see the day coming. 6. Am I honest about my weaknesses? 1 Corinthians 10:12 NKJ Therefore let him who thinks he stands take heed lest he fall. 1 Corinthians 10:13 NKJ No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it. “Myself” by Edgar Guest: I have to live with myself, and so, I want to be fit for myself to know. I want to be able as days go by, always to look myself straight in the eye; I don’t want to stand with the setting sun and hate myself for the things I’ve done. I don’t want to keep on a closet shelf a lot of secrets about myself, and fool myself as I come and go into thinking that nobody else will know the kind of man I really am. I don’t want to dress up myself in sham; I want to go out with my head erect. I want to deserve all men’s respect, but here in this struggle for fame and pelf, I want to be able to like myself. I don’t want to look at myself and know that I’m bluster and bluff and empty show. I never can hide myself from me; I see what others may never see. I know what others may never know; I never can fool myself, and so, whatever happens I want to be self-respecting and conscience free. |
